What We Do
Our work is steeped in racial equity and as an organization, Dunamis does everything we can to support and create space for creatives of color. Our work extends into the following ongoing programming:
Emerging Artists Fellowship– The Emerging Artists Fellowship provides nurturing support and professional development education for emerging artists of color in the city of Boston. Learn more here.
Arts Management Apprenticeship– The Arts Management Apprenticeship was designed to support, train and nurture emerging arts managers of color based in Boston. This is a paid opportunity for people of color to build tangible work experience and establish professional connections to move their careers forward. Learn more here.
JP Porchfest- Since 2014 Jamaica Plain Porchfest has built community – across the divides of race, class, culture and immigrant status – through the power of the arts. Originally founded by Mindy Fried and Marie Ghitman, Dunamis began Porchfest in August 2021. Learn more here.

Akeem's Alchemy- Founded by J.Cottle and Jasmine Garcia, Akeem's Alchemy is a production company that works with local creative entrepreneurs to: 1. Provide black and brown creatives a safe, equitable, artist-centered space to create high-level artistic work. 2. Tell stories that spark individuals to make changes in their communities. 3. Continue to invest in the local creative economy and retain creative talent in Boston. 4. Tell magical stories that feature queer characters of color, thus allowing for new stories into the fantasy and science fiction lexicon. Narratively, and in practice, Akeem's Alchemy works to disrupt outdated, inequitable models of work and encourage us to move through the world with more empathy, joy, and interconnectedness.
