The Young Artist Mixer series was launched to answer one question: How do we provide a space for young creatives to connect and move their work forward in a relaxed social environment? At our Mixers, we bring together Boston’s young performing-artists, ages 18-25 for a night of fun and connection centered around a critical question that helps them reframe thinking, add new depth to their work and meet new people in different and exciting ways.
One Night in Wakdanda is our inaugural mixer and was specially selected as an Art Week event. Headlined by Neo Gcabo, produced and performed by artists and arts-managers all under the age of 29, our special art-week twist is the immersive South-African performance experience. While like all of our mixers the evening is centered around a central question meant to guide young artists forward in their work, we’ve compounded that with a musical and culinary journey through South Africa and the Diaspora.
On this special evening we’ll provide context and a jumping-off point for discussing culture, art, its intersections and the empowerment young people feel when living their authentic lives.
